De Anza Middle School was honored to receive a visit from a delegation of school administrators from the Beijing Xicheng Education Commission. As part of an international training on K-12 education administration through San Francisco State University, the visitors toured several school sites across California. They were most interested in observing areas such as curriculum, instructional technology, student discipline, and leadership on campus. They had an opportunity to visit classrooms and observe current Project-Based Learning activities such as the 8th Grade Pokemon Go project and the culmination of our physical education project, which included De Anza students teaching a fitness lesson they designed to visiting Sultana students. They had many questions regarding the structure of our education system in the United States and California. Before leaving, they generously gifted artwork created by elementary school students to the school. For De Anza, it was a wonderful opportunity to continue to showcase the amazing work that students and staff have accomplished there, and a great reminder about how the power of education and learning connects us all.
