Welcome to Richard E. Haynes Elementary School, Home of the Huskies!

It is my extreme honor to work as the principal of Haynes Elementary School.  In my 20 years of educational experience within the Ontario Montclair School District, I have supported students in grades Preschool through 8th grade in the capacity of Classroom Teacher, Outreach Consultant, Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal and Principal. Our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Josefina Avila, also has background in both elementary and middle school and has expertise in Restorative Justice practices and strategies.  

We service approximately 750 students in Preschool through 6th Grade.  We offer both Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten programs.  

At Haynes we strive to provide our students with the best possible educational experience.  We value providing students with an engaging curriculum inside the classroom as well as a safe and enjoyable experience outside the classroom.  Our school is in the process of building a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) in order to provide all of our students with tiered academic and social-emotional support.  We use a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) system that focuses on teaching students how to be safe, respectful and responsible.  Additionally, we have weekly intervention/acceleration in both reading and math for all of our students.  

This year, we launched a fantastic Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) that allows all of our students access to a variety of extra-curricular activities such as sports, technology, art, music, and homework help.  Our ELOP team partners with the City of Ontario Think Together Program to provide a comprehensive afterschool program for TK-6th grade.
