A Message from the Assistant Superintendent of Learning & Teaching

I am very proud of the programs and services provided to students and families in the Ontario-Montclair School District.  As a district committed to supporting the whole child, Learning & Teaching (L&T) Division staff has embraced the design and implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).  This means providing a sustainable system with policies and practices that ensure the needs of all students are met, academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.  Our Motto “All Means All” illustrates the value we have placed on addressing the unique needs for all of our students.  We do this by building and providing equitable services and programs for our students and families.

The purpose of the L&T Team is to collaboratively lead and support stakeholders in ensuring high levels of learning for all students.  We do this by designing and implementing programs and services to meet the needs of our stakeholders, by supporting our school sites in implementing these programs and services, and by collaborating with all divisions and departments to streamline services and support.

Our work in the design and implementation of programs and services to meet the needs of our students, families and staff centers around building equitable learning environments in each of our schools and departments.  At the district level, we have designed a Multi-Tiered System of Support which centers on this framework:

Our work in supporting our school sites in the implementation of these programs includes providing training, resources and technical assistance to school staff.  Each of our schools’  Leadership Teams attend training and collaborate to design, implement and monitor school programs and policies to provide tiered instruction and intervention to develop the academic, behavior and social emotional learning of all students.  

In order to accelerate the learning of all students, the Learning & Teaching Division provides training and additional school staffing to target the needs of individual students, and utilizes a Multi-tiered System of Support.
