A proud alumnus of El Camino Elementary School and Vernon Middle School in the Ontario-Montclair School District. Mr. Vo is currently proudly serving in the United States Air Force. As a service-oriented member of the larger Ontario community, he serves as a basketball coach with the City of Ontario and uses coaching as an opportunity to mentor youth and instill principles of discipline and hope. Mr. Vo’s volunteerism began as a youth by participating in sports and helping at the Montclair Library and Montclair Civic Center. Mr. Vo is inspired by his family, parents, sisters, and wife and, what others might consider failures, he sees as opportunities for growth and to achieve the best in everything he does. In his own life, he attributes much of his success to his parents’ example of excellence and sacrifice, and to great teachers, coaches, and opportunities to play sports through city leagues. Mr. Vo encourages educators to think outside the box, and encourages parents to be the best parent as this will result in being a best friend. For Mr. Vo, excellence is the result of hard work and dedication. For these reasons, the Ontario-Montclair School District recognizes and celebrates Mr. Michael Vo as a 2014-2015 Model of Excellence. His commitment to service and excellence is certain to motivate and inspire current and future generations of OMSD students, educators, parents, and community members.
