The OMSD Expanded Summer School Sessions are back by popular demand!

OMSD - Expanded Summer School Sessions

We are ready for our expanded summer school programs!  This year OMSD is offering additional summer school dates and adding grade levels to our sessions.  Please read below for a description of each program.

Session One:

  • Summer Visual and Performing Arts Program (VAPA) from May 28 – June 21, 2019
    • The Visual and Performing Arts Summer School session will be offered to students from all schools in OMSD in current 4th-7th grades. This program emphasizes creativity, self-awareness, and self-expression through active daily visual and performing arts experiences. The program will be at Buena Vista Elementary School. The VAPA program will run Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided during the morning. This is an open invitation for students currently in 4th -7th grades.   
  • Summer Academy for Scholars and Athletes (SASA) from May 28 – June 21, 2019
    • The Summer Academy for Scholars and Athletes will be offered to OMSD students in current 4th-7th grades at Oaks Middle School and Wiltsey Middle School. The SASA program will run Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Extended time is available through Think Together.  Students will stay for an additional two hours, 12:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m.  Students will develop skills to set academic and athletic goals, learn sportsmanship, citizenship, the importance of life long nutrition and wellness, and skills.  
  • Extended School Year (special education) May 28 – June 21, 2019
  • De Anza Middle School Enrichment Program May 28 – June 21, 2019
  • Vina Danks Middle School Intervention Program May 28- June 21, 2019
  • Claremont Club Scholarship Weekly Session. Students have been selected and notified. This was on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Chino Basin Water Conservation District Watershed Expeditions Camp.
    • This year in partnership with OMSD, our current 5th - 7th grade students will focus on outdoor watershed exploration, water quality testing, data interpretation, and water conservation action with trips to the following sites: San Antonio Creek, Chino Creek, Santa Ana River at Featherly Regional Park, Huntington Beach and Crystal Cove State Park. Families can select this one five-day camp during the week of 7/8-7/12
      • There is still room for a few more students to join.  Please contact the district office at 909-418-6320 for an application.

 Session Two:       

  • Middle School Math Intervention academies from July 8 – August 1, 2019 (new dates)
    • This program is for identified students across the district hosted at Oaks and Wiltsey Middle Schools.
  • Elementary Reading Academy from July 8 – August 1, 2019 (new dates)
    • This program is for identified students across the district hosted at Elderberry and Del Norte Elementary Schools.
  • Weekly SASA & VAPA Camps from July 8 – August 1, 2019 at Oaks (expansion of SASA & Vapa programs)
    • open to 3rd grade through 7th grade.
