Homeless or In Transition Students (McKinney Vento Homeless Education Act)

  • All students considered homeless or in transition, includes students who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence, are afforded certain rights under the law:

    • Immediate enrollment, even if family lacks records normally required for enrollment
    • Placement in student’s school of origin, unless is against family’s wishes
    • Transportation to and from student’s school of origin
    • Free school meals

    Please call your child’s school and ask to speak to the Outreach Consultant or Principal for assistance with this process.  You may also call the OMSD Family & Collaborative Services directly at 909-418-6398.

COVID-19 Information & Resources

  • All OMSD schools have extended the temporary shutdown of all in-class instruction and all extra-curricular activities from May 1, 2020 to May 21, 2020.  OMSD now plans to resume our regularly scheduled instruction at all schools beginning Thursday, August 6, 2020. 

    For more detailed information, please look for Dr. Hammond's letter under our Parent Section. 

     Todas las escuelas de OMSD han extendido el cierre temporal de toda la instrucción en clase y todas las actividades extracurriculares del 1 de mayo de 2020 al 21 de mayo de 2020. OMSD ahora planea reanudar nuestra instrucción programada regularmente en todas las escuelas a partir del jueves 6 de agosto de 2020.

Food Distribution/Distribucion de Comida

  • Sowing Seeds for Life has partnered with the Pomona Fairplex  and will have food distribution dates on Wednesday, April 29th, May 6th, May 20th, June 3rd from 9 am – 1 pm. Veggies, produce & canned goods while supplies last. No registration/paperwork /residency requirements. Enter through GATE 17 off McKinley Ave. 1101 W. McKinley Ave, Pomona, CA 91708. Clients stay in their cars, food is placed in trunks. NO WALK INS. Must be in car. Please arrive early.

    Sowing Seeds for Life se ha asociado con el Pomona Fairplex y tendrá fechas de distribución de alimentos el miercoles, 29 de abril, 6 de mayo, 20 de mayo y 3 de junio de 9 am a 1 pm. Incluye verduras y productos enlatados hasta agotar existencias. No hay requisitos de registro / papeleo / residencia. Ingrese a traves de GATE 17 en McKinley Ave. 1101 W. McKinley Ave, Pomona, CA 91708. Los clientes se quedan en sus autos, la comida se coloca en baúles. Debe de estar en un auto, no se aceptan peatones. Por favor de llegar temprano.

  • We know how difficult the situation is and its effect on our community. We will be working hard to keep you all connected as we navigate how to educate and care for our students in the next few weeks. The two companies below have offered free wifi for the next few months to low income families with K-12 students in the household. If you know someoone that is need of these services, please share this information with them. 

     

    Sabemos lo difícil que es la situación y su efecto en nuestra comunidad. Trabajaremos para mantenerlos a todos conectados mientras exploramos cómo educar y cuidar a nuestros estudiantes en las próximas semanas. Las dos compañias a continuación han ofrecido wifi gratis durante los próximos meses a familias de bajos ingresos con estudiantes de K-12 en el hogar.
