arroyo: an ib world school

About Arroyo Elementary

  • Arroyo Elementary was established in 1967 as one of the first schools in the Ontario-Montclair School District.  In 2014, Arroyo was authorized as a Primary Years Programme (PYP) school, making it one of very few Title 1 schools to offer the IB programme to our students in TK-5th .   In 2022, Arroyo became an Middle Years Programme (MYP) Candidate school in order to continue to offer the IB programme to our 6th-8th grade students.

As a globally minded school, we provide a safe and caring environment that facilitates a rigorous academic curriculum of inquiry-based instruction that empowers students to become reflective, knowledgeable communicators. Our students are encouraged to question and explore to gain new understanding.  Arroyo students and parents appreciate that the learning does not end with content, but with meaning action in the school, community, and the world.

The administrators and teachers work cooperatively to plan, teach, and reflect on learning experiences that provide access for all students. The staff works collaboratively with parents and the surrounding community to collect input and set goals for student achievement.  Our school is notable for its efforts to increase student reflection, knowledge, and curiosity.

  • *Arroyo is an authorized IB Primary Years Programme school.

Arroyo is a candidate school* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme and pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision.
