About Lincoln Elementary

  • Lincoln is a school filled with students of diverse needs. The staff takes pride in meeting every child’s unique needs. We have approximately 550 general education students in grades Preschool through 6th grade. In addition to their instructional day, our general education students have the opportunity to participate in the School Newspaper, Peace Patrol, Student Council, Band, Science Fair and the Spelling Bee. Our general education teachers support our students’ learning through Thinking Maps, Write From the Beginning, engagement strategies, Kate Kinsella’s vocabulary strategies, as well as other instructional strategies. In addition, our teachers meet regularly to use classroom data to target student needs and differentiate instruction.

Lincoln also has approximately 200 moderate-severe special needs students in grades preschool through 6th grade. Our special education teachers are knowledgeable in Touch Math, Handwriting Without Tears, SRA Reading Mastery Program, Thinking Maps, PECS, TEACCH, and they work hand in hand with our Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Adapted Physical Education Teachers, and Vision Specialists to provide a well rounded educational experience for our students. Our teachers and specialists are very skilled at determining the supports our students need to assist them through their educational program.

Throughout the day our general education students and special education students have opportunities to play and learn together to create a culture of understanding, caring and respect. It is what makes Lincoln stand apart from other schools. Our Lincoln Leopards are our driving force each day and it is through our culture of TEAMWORK that we strive to do what is best for each child, every day.
