A proud alumnus of Central Elementary, San Antonio Elementary, and Vina Danks Middle School. He currently serves as the Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Montclair Fire Department.  Mr. Jackson began his career in 1990 as a Reserve Firefighter and worked his way up the ranks as an Engineer, Captain, and Battalion Chief.  Mr. Jackson also completed Paramedic School becoming one of the first Firefighter/Paramedics in the City of Montclair.  As a leader within the fire department, Mr. Jackson mentors all firefighters and is known as someone who “leads by example” not only in his professional role, but also as a personal friend, always lending an “open ear” and assisting with problem solving solutions. While he has high expectations of others, he is committed to not expecting others to do what he is not willing to do himself.  Mr. Jackson also cherishes his family and makes calculated decisions in determining how his decisions will affect his family.  Mr. Jackson puts his heart and soul into everything he does. He simply does what he does because he sees a need, it is the right thing to do and loves helping others, but also remains humble. For nearly 30 years, Mr. Jackson has continued to “pay it forward” by collaborating with OMSD and offering fire safety information to students, encouraging students to stay committed to school and their dreams and serving as a mentor to new firefighters.  Mr. Jackson has also coordinated a myriad of events with the City of Montclair and OMSD, such as the annual Fire Department Open House, Toys for Tots, Fill the Boot, the Fire Safety Puppet Show, Career Day, Red Ribbon Events, the City of Montclair Food Bank Christmas Boxes, the Police Golf Tournament, and many more.  Mr. Jackson gives selflessly to the local community by serving as a baseball coach, a board member and participating in fundraising events.  For these reasons, the Ontario Montclair School District is proud to honor Mr. Steve Jackson as a 2018 Model of Excellence.  His commitment to excellence is evident through his relentless dedication to the community and serves as a role model for OMSD students, educators, parents, and community.
