Welcome to Promise Scholars
To ensure OMSD students have access to a world-class education that empowers students to be successful in a dynamic global society, Promise Scholars facilitates community partnerships to create college degree and career pathways for all students. The Promise Scholars program works to bring everyone together—parents, educators, businesses, and local leaders—to introduce students beginning in Kindergarten to the opportunities available after high school and make sure they plan and take the steps to achieve their goals.
The Promise Scholars commitment to all OMSD students includes three promises:
- A place in college
- Money for college
- Help in preparing for college
Promise Scholars understands setting a post-secondary mindset starts early. That’s why our staff works directly with students to help make sure they can envision a pathway to college and a career. We deliver the following interactive supports to encourage the next generation to embrace their futures and make their dreams come true: University and Community College Campus Tours; Parent Workshops; Business Leader College and Career Presentations; and True Colors Personality Strength Assessments and Career Exploration classes. In addition, classroom curriculum on college and careers begins in Kindergarten.
Promise Scholars works directly with students and their families, in coordination with their counselors, to provide the following supports to all OMSD high school students: comparing career training and college costs and value; help with college applications; and Financial Aid Application Workshops (FAFSA, Dream Act, scholarships, waivers).
