Ms. Frances Carreon

  • Frances Carreon A proud alumna of Sultana Elementary and De Anza Middle School.  Mrs. Carreon is currently an elementary school teacher at El Camino in the Ontario-Montclair School District.  She began her 13-year career in OMSD by serving as a preschool aide at Linda Vista.  Shortly after this role, she became a reading tutor at Kingsley Elementary and then a long-term substitute teacher.  During her time at Mission Elementary, she taught first grade for three years.  At her current school, she has taught second grade and is currently teaching transitional kindergarten and kindergarten.  Over the years, Mrs. Carreon has been inspired by her parents, family, friends, her own kindergarten & English teacher in high school, her college professors, and her colleagues in OMSD.  Frances is described as someone who has a heart for others such as students, families, colleagues, and the community.  Due to her commitment and dedication, she has been nominated as the Employee of the Year by her peers.  She serves the school through student council, family nights, the district kindergarten task force, peer-reading program, and peer buddies.  She also actively mentors former students.  Frances pays it forward by organizing groups of students who visit local nursing homes, supports students as they organize fundraising events for charities, mentors teacher credential candidates from local universities, and is an active member of her church. In 2019, El Camino received the Civil Learning Award of Merit Award due in large part to France’s contributions.  Her motto is “The end to all education should surely be service to others” (Cesar Chavez). France exemplifies this call to action in both word and deed. She is sincere, loving, and dedicated in all she does, and our entire learning community benefits from her commitment to our students. Her advice to educators is to remain committed to growing, being a lifelong learner, and find the joy in what they do every day.  For students, she recommends that students keep trying and never give up. For parents, Frances encourages them to be consistent with their children and consistently ask them, “how was your day?” Frances defines excellence as the opportunity to do better each day as we engage with our families, friends, workplace, and community.  For these reasons, the Ontario Montclair School District is proud to honor Mrs. Frances Carreon as a 2019 Model of Excellence.  Her commitment to excellence is evident through her relentless dedication to the community and serves as a role model for OMSD students, educators, parents, and community.
