A proud alumnus of Lehigh Elementary School and Serrano Middle School. As a professional football player in the National Football League, Mr. Andrews currently plays for the Philadelphia Eagles and uses his professional status to “pay it forward” in the OMSD community by participating in a football camp held at Colony High School, along with a couple of other former high school teammates who are also playing for the NFL. At every opportunity, Josh returns to the OMSD community and visits with students. He encourages them to keep their faith when times get rough, to chase their dreams and not stop until they reach them. Josh is inspired by his mother, Tanya Smith, and shares that as a single-parent, she did a great job raising him and his two brothers. When asked what advice he would give to educators, Mr. Andrews states, “continue to inspire the youth to set goals for themselves and don't stop until they have reached those goals, just as educators did for me in the past.” Josh’s favorite quote is by Vince Lombardi, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” Josh tries to live out this credo by continually setting goals and not stopping until he reaches or exceeds that goal. For these reasons, the Ontario-Montclair School District recognizes and celebrates Mr. Joshua Andrews as a 2015-2016 Model of Excellence. His commitment to excellence is certain to motivate and inspire current and future generations of OMSD students, educators, parents, and community members.
