Mr. Scott Russ

  • Scott Russ A proud alumnus of El Camino Elementary School and Vernon Middle School. When Scott began attending El Camino in third grade, he experienced a newfound stability and life-long friends, since prior to that his family had moved several times. After college, Scott began substitute teaching at OMSD. Today, he is the Elementary Administrator at Edison Elementary School. Scott is inspired by his mother, who taught him a strong and positive work ethic and to never give up, no matter how difficult a situation becomes. His favorite quote is by Jimmy Dean, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” One way Scott tries to “pay it forward” in the OMSD community is by continually promoting positive character with the students he interacts on a daily basis. He believes that all educators need to help students to be successful not only within the school, but also with their families and community. He encourages his peers to remember about the impact they have on each student and to model good character so they can inspire their students to be successful and to believe in their dreams. To students, Scott emphasizes the need to learn from every experience, to believe in the possibility of success and to work hard toward their goals. Although his measurement of excellence is continually evolving, Scott, believed it is important to have excellent character, the drive to get the job done and to continually evaluate ourselves to ensure we tried our best. For these reasons, the Ontario-Montclair School District recognizes and celebrates Mr. Scott Russ as a 2015-2016 Model of Excellence. His commitment to excellence is certain to motivate and inspire current and future generations of OMSD students, educators, parents, and community members.
