Bullying and Cyberbullying Prevention & Reporting
-
Every student deserves to feel safe and respected at school. If you or your child are experiencing bullying, this page will show you how to report it and where to find support.
Our Policy
The Ontario-Montclair School District takes all bullying accusations seriously. The Ontario-Montclair School District prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on the actual or perceived characteristics of a person’s disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. This policy applies to all acts related to school activities on campus and may include acts occurring off campus during non-school hours.Recognizing Bullying vs. Conflict
Not all disagreements or arguments between students are bullying. Conflict is a normal part of growing up and often happens when students with equal power or status have a temporary disagreement or misunderstanding. In most cases, conflict can be resolved when both sides are willing to listen and work things out.Bullying is different. It involves repeated behavior, a power imbalance, and the intent to cause harm. This can include physical, verbal, social, or online actions that make a student feel unsafe, humiliated, or excluded. Because bullying can seriously affect a student’s well-being, learning, and ability to participate in school, our district treats all reports with urgency and care.
How to Report
If you believe your child has been bullied, please complete one of the forms below. Once a report is submitted, school staff will begin an investigation and contact you to discuss next steps. What Happens Next
Completion of these forms will initiate an investigation of the alleged incident of bullying or harassment. The school’s first priority is to ensure students are safe and supported. Parents and guardians will be kept informed throughout, and the school will work in partnership with families to resolve the situation with care and respect.
