EIGHTH GRADE SACRAMENTO FIELD TRIP
“STEP INTO CALIFORNIA HISTORY”
There is no better way to learn about our rich California history than to experience it. That is precisely what our eighth grade students did. In early May, 294 eighth grade students from all the OMSD middle and K-8 schools set out for a five-day field trip to Sacramento and San Francisco. This is the seventh year for this trip and it continues to grow each year to the point that two trips are now taken. This year Central, De Anza, Serrano, Vernon and Wiltsey Schools attended Trip #1, April 28th-May 2nd. Edison, Oaks, Vina Danks and Vineyard schools attended Trip #2, May 5th-9th.
In the Sacramento area, students toured the State Capitol Building, Old Town Sacramento, UC Davis, Marshall Goldfield Discovery Park and they rafted on the American River. In San Francisco students toured Alcatraz Island, rode the Cable Cars and visited Pier 39.
This was an amazing adventure for our OMSD eighth grade students. It will be a memory that will not soon be forgotten by these students. To view photos from the trip, click on the photo links below. Information about next year’s Sacramento Field Trip will be made available to the new eighth grade students in August, 2019.
